Conscious Breathing

Being conscious of your breath is extremely important. Deep breathing from your abdomen (with your mouth open) is a wonderful tool for centering. The breath is one of greatest, most natural antidepressant and pain reliever to a person. A person’s breath is the pathway to his or her Higher Wisdom. Taking several deep breaths can help a person quiet a fast pace mind. Conscious breathing can refresh a person like cool water on a hot summer day.

When a person becomes upset, the shallowness of his or her breathing causes a buildup of toxins, which then creates a feeling of tension, frustration, impatience, anger, and grief. Take a deep breath and very slowly release it; do this 3 to 5 times to help release the tension, and to become fully present. Experience each breath, sort of following it up from your abdomen into your chest.

Practice conscious breathing to handle everyday stress. It helps clear your mind and release toxins in your body.

“Becoming aware of your breath forces you into the present moment-the key to all inner transformation. Whenever you are conscious of the breath, you are absolutely present.”
– Eckhart Tolle
